French babiroussa, from Malay babi hog + rusa deer.

(Zoological) A large hoglike quadruped (Sus , or Porcus, babirussa ) of the East Indies , sometimes domesticated; the Indian hog. Its upper canine teeth or tusks are large and recurved.
