From , irregular from chilioi , thousand. The "correct" form would be chili-, resulting in forms such as chiliogram and chiliometer. In fact, one such form (lacking the connecting vowel -o-, which is explained at Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia) used to exist in English: chilihedron , meaning a thousand-faced solid.
