African WindowThe African Window is the national cultural history museum (NCHM) of South Africa. It is situated in Pretoria, Gauteng. The NCHM was amalgamated with the Pretoria-based Transvaal Museum for Natural History and the South African National Museum for Military History (situated in Johannesburg) on 1 April 1999 to form the Northern Flagship Institution. The Institution is managed by a chief executive officer and a board, which replaced the three separate previous museum boards. The museum currently resides in the old Mint building at 149 Visagie Street, which was re-built and opened on 1 March 1997. The collection of the museum includes:
