The Apel-stones, named after the writer Theodor Apel from Leipzig who commissioned them, mark important events during the Battle of Leipzig. There are 45 all in all. The lines of the French and their allies are marked with an N (Napoleon), the coalition lines with a V (for German Verbündete, allies).
