Basic Well-being Index


Well-being is a subjective perception of balance, harmony, and vitality. According to Leddy and Pepper , well-being occurs in levels. at the highest level, a person feels satisfaction and a sense of contributing; such person might place his or her state of well-being at the top of a plus-3 scale. At the lowest level, people see themselves as ill and may place their state of well-being at the bottom of minus-3 scale. Leddy and Pepper also say that well-being is a state that can be described objectively and therefore can be measured. In contrast, health, which encompasses "well-being, illness, disease and non-disease is an evolving potential that cannot be quantified.
