Bernard Goldberg

Bernard Goldberg was a reporter with CBS for nearly thirty years. He is an multi-Emmy Award winner.

In 2001, CBS had a major falling out with Goldberg as he alleged a pattern of bias in reporting in his book Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News. He noted the news media's liberalism which pervades their coverage of events. One of his main targets was Dan Rather, and the CBS forged memo scandal would not have surprised Goldberg. Goldberg followed Bias by the sequel .

However, Goldberg argues that the liberal distortion is not usually conscious. Rather, he claims that these views are so entrenched into people's thinking in these circles, and they so rarely encounter contrary views among their peers, that they think they are "normal", i.e. are blind to their own biases. Thus they tend to regard anything even moderately conservative, including in theological matters, as practically tantamount to right-wing fascism.
