Boothby

Boothby is a fictional character in the Star Trek universe, playing the groundskeeper of the Starfleet Academy and Starfleet Headquarters in San Francisco. He was first seen in Star Trek: The Next Generation episode The First Duty , and brought to life by Ray Walston.

Historical Data

The groundskeeper has been somewhat of a fixture at the academy since 2321, with a career spanning half a century. He has helped various (to him) promising Cadets enrolled there, including Jean-Luc Picard and Kathryn Janeway. While he was tough on them, they remember him fondly. As such he filled a role not unlike a Sensei.

In 2375 the Species 8472 created a facsimile of Starfleet Command. One of members of this species mimicked Boothby, including his habit of giving Kathryn Janeway a rose as did the original during her academy years.
