CHYK

CHYK is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts at FM 104.1 in Timmins, Ontario. It broadcasts a francophone hot adult contemporary format for the city's franco-ontarian community. It is owned by Haliburton Broadcasting Group.

The station was originally established in 1952 by J. Conrad Lavigne, with the callsign CFCL-AM. It adopted the new callsign CKOY in 1990, when its acquisition by the Pelmorex Radio Network meant that the station no longer had common ownership with the city's CFCL-TV. The station was converted to FM in 2000, after Pelmorex sold its stations to Haliburton, and adopted the current CHYK callsign. CHYK was formerly the callsign of a station in Kapuskasing, which was converted to a retransmitter of the Timmins CHYK.

CHYK and its Greater Sudbury sister station CHYC are the only francophone commercial stations in Ontario; all other Ontario francophones are served by non-profit community stations such as CHOQ, Radio-Canada affiliates of La Première Chaîne and Espace Musique, or stations originating in Quebec.

The station has two rebroadcast transmitters, CHYX 93.7 in Kapuskasing and CHYK 92.9 in Hearst.
