Calendar Girls is a British film of 2003, based on the true story of a group of Yorkshire women who produce a nude calendar to raise money for charity, under the auspices of the Women's Institute.
The film stars Helen Mirren and Julie Walters. It also features John Alderton , Annette Crosbie, Ciaran Hinds , Celia Imrie, Geraldine James and Penelope Wilton.
Calendar Girls was inspired by the story of a similar real life nude calendar produced by the members of the Rylstone Women's Institute in Yorkshire, England.
The film is a feel-good comedy based on the emphatically "amateur" status of the eponymous Calendar Girls, in humourous contrast to the professional models who appear in most calendars and pinups.
Tagline: They dropped everything for a good cause.
