Chief of the Turkish General Staff
The Chief of the Turkish General Staff is a military person of rank general, who presides the general staff of the armed forces -army, navy, air force - of Turkey.
According to the Turkish constitution, during peacetime, he reports to the Prime Minister and serves as the Commander of the Turkish Armed Forces. In times of war, he assumes the "Commander in Chief" authority on behalf of the President. The General Command of Gendarmerie and the Coast Guard Command, as a part of the intemal security forces, are affiliated with the Ministry of Interior Affairs at peacetime, whereas at war time, they fall under Army Command and Navy Command, respectively.
