A clementine is the fruit of Citrus reticulata, and is a cross between a mandarin orange and an orange created by the Algerian priest Pierre Clément in 1902. Clementines are sometimes mistaken for tangerines, but the clementine has a more easily removed skin, a sweeter fruit, and no seeds.
Like all fruits, "clementine" can also refer to the tree.
Clementine is also a girl's name. Fictional Clementines include characters in the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and the 1884 song (Oh My Darling) Clementine by Percy Montrose .
Clementine was a successful American orbiter probe, that carried out its mission in 1994.
Clementine is a cowgirl in the children's television series Sesame Street.
