David Cromwell is an oceanographer and writer. He has had articles published in The Guardian, The Independent, Financial Times, The Scotsman, The Herald and several magazines. He is a monthly ZNet commentator (see www.zmag.org), the author of Private Planet (Jon Carpenter Publishing, 2001) and co-editor of the MediaLens website.
