Direct relationship

in mathematics, a direct relationship in mathematics and statistics is a positive relationship between two variables in which they both increase or decrease in conjunction.

For example, there is a direct relationship between age and risk for heart disease. The older you get, the more likely you are to get the disease, and the younger you are, the less likely you are to get it.

Contrast with inverse relationship.
