Pylon of an Egyptian TemplePylon is the Greek term for monumental gate or doors built in front of an Egyptian temple and consisting of the two towers the entrance between them. In ancient Egypt temples the Pylon is the gateway to the inner part. Pylons are often embellished with pictures. In the first example the first Pylon of the temple of Isis at Philae is shown. On the first Pylon the pharaoh is seen slaying his enemies while Isis, Horus and Hathor look on. Other examples of a Pylon can be seen in Luxor and Edfoe.
