Ganglioside

Ganglioside is a compund composed of lipid and carbohydrate ( glycosphingolipids) that is produced as a component of the plasma membrane of many kinds of cells. It is a component of cells found in nerve tissue endings and function in nerve impulse transmission. If these are not degenerated by enzymes, they can build up and cause brain and nerve cell damage.
