GummitwistGummitwist is a children's game, which involves jumping over and on a rubberband in defined patterns. It is popular among young girls in Germany, Austria, Italy and countries of ex-Yugoslavia. It is typically played by three players, although more can participate. A rubberband of about 5-6 meters in length is tied in a loop. Two players (holders) stand around 3 meters apart and hold the rubberband stretched around their bodies. Another player (the jumper) jumps on and over following a pattern. The game begins with choosing the jump pattern to follow. There are many jump patterns and most are accompanied by a song. The holders hold the rubberband around their ankles. This is called the "first level". The jumper tries to complete the chosen pattern. If they are successful, they progress to the second level; holders hold the rubberband around their shins or knees. If the jumper makes a mistake, players rotate their positions and the next player becomes the jumper. When a player returns to jumping, they continue the game from the last uncompleted level. The player that first completes the levels (usually five to nine, up to neck height) wins the game.
