Guo Xi

Guo Xi was a Chinese landscape painter who lived during the Northern Song dynasty (dynasties in Chinese history). He wrote a book about how to paint landscapes. He was a court professional, a literati, well-educated painter who developped an incredibly detailed system of idiomatic brushstrokes which became important for later painters. His most famous work is dated 1072 and is called "Early Spring." In this work, you can see his innovative techniques for producing multiple perspectives which he called "the angle of totality."
