Insecula

Insecula: L'encyclopédie des arts et de l'architecture is a French language art website containing images and descriptions of thousands of works of art from major museums and collections in France and elsewhere, including the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay, the Palace of Versailles, the Centre Pompidou, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the MOMA. The site's Homepage claims that it represents seven years of work.

In addition to items on individual works of art the site also includes numerous photos, many of them in panoramic format, of the museums and galleries themselves. All in all, Insecula is often more comprehensive than the museums' own official websites.
