Jacob Brønnum Scavenius Estrup, (1825 - 1913), Danish conservative politician, Minister of the Interior from 1865 to 1869, Minister of Finance, and Konseilspræsident ("Council President", the leader of the government at that time) from 1875 to 1894. He was resistant toward regular elections and the parliamentary system. While leader of the government Estrup lacked a majority , but ruled by proclamation. It was not until 1901 that Venstre (the Left, or liberal party) and Socialdemokratiet (the Social Democracy party) would have enough power to turn back that undemocratic control.
