Jake Burton

Jake Burton invented the snowboard. In 1977, he gave up his high paying New York job and started making snowboards in Londonderry, Vermont. He made snowboarding a sport and then marketed the equipment. While traveling in Austria with his family, he developed new ideas for his boards, like medal edges. Burton snowboards was born.
