Jeffrey Eugenides

Jeffrey Eugenides (b. March 8, 1960, in Detroit, Michigan) is an American (of Greek origins) novelist and short story writer. He graduated from Brown University in 1983 and also holds an M.A. in Creative Writing from Stanford University. Eugenides lives with his family in Berlin, Germany. He is married to the artist Karen Yamauchi. He is very reluctant to appear in public or disclose details about his private life.

The Virgin Suicides became known to a wider audience when, in 1999, it was made into a film by Sofia Coppola.
