Jessica Michalik

Jessica Michalik was a teenage girl who was unfortunately crushed to death in the mosh pit at the 2001 Sydney Big Day Out festival. Her death was caused by a combination of poor crowd control and Limp Bizkit member, Fred Durst who fuelled the crowd rather than appealing to them to stop.

Australian band Grinspoon performed at her funeral, and moments of silence have been held at subsequent Big Day Out festivals.

Her death also inspired a new barricade used at the festival that prevents further "crowd crushes".
