Metahumor is humor about humor. For example, someone tells a pun knowing full well that puns are not funny. Another example of metahumor is when a comedian tells a terrible joke on purpose, knowing that the terribleness of the joke itself will be humorous. Conan O'Brien is seen by some as the king of metahumor. This is very similar to, if not the same as, anti-humor.
