Ottawa CBC Building

The Ottawa CBC Building is the Ottawa headquarters of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The new building was opened in 2004. Previously the CBC workers had been located in various buildings of the city. The radio division occupied the top floor of the Chateau Laurier while the television division operated out of a building in Westboro.

The new building was built by and is owned by Morguard Investments not all of it is leased by the CBC with the top floors occupied by other government workers. It is located at 181 Queen Street between Bank Street and O'Connor. The rear of the building backs out on the Sparks Street pedestrian mall. Several of the studios are located at ground level on Sparks Street allowing the public to observe from outside. The site had been vacant for several years and had before been home to a Woolworths department store.
