Pioneer

A pioneer is someone who is first at doing something, or someone who is among a group of such people.

• Pioneer settlers founded colonies in the New World, most notably in the American Old West. They are stock characters in Western movies, often depicted driving covered wagons in wagon trains on the Midwest's Great Plains.
  • The Mormon Pioneers were the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who crossed the Great Plains.
