Sime DarbyIn 1910, William Middleton Sime, a Scottish gentleman, and Henry Darby, an English gentleman, teamed up to form a company to manage 500 acres (2 km²) of rubber estates in the state of Malacca. Lending their names to their business venture, they registered the company as Sime, Darby & Co Limited. In 1979, the company changed its corporate name to Sime Darby Berhad and became a large Malaysian conglomerate that is involved in Plantations, Tyre Manufacturing, Heavy Equipment and Motor Vehicle Distribution and Property Development.
