Speakers' Corner (television series)

Speakers' Corner is a Canadian television series, which airs weekly on Citytv.

The show, an example of Moses Znaimer's philosophy of interactive broadcasting, allows the general public to enter a booth outside the station's studio, at Queen and John streets in Toronto, and record a short video segment (up to two minutes in length) for a nominal fee (currently one dollar). The show's producers then select "compelling" segments for broadcast. Segments are sometimes broadcast as short segments outside of the scheduled show times, or as interstitial bits on MuchMusic.

The Speakers' Corner booth has been used for everything from heartrending pleas for assistance in locating missing children or pets, to humourous rants on things that annoy the speaker. It has also been used by musicians looking to get exposure: in their early busking days, Barenaked Ladies regularly performed in the Speakers' Corner booth.

The station also has a mobile booth to increase public access, and many of CHUM Limited's sister NewNet stations also have their own Speakers' Corner booths. All the money collected from the Speakers' Corner goes to charity.
