Svarga

(Redirected from Swarga loka)

In Hinduism, Svarga (or Swarga) is an underworld, located on Mt. Meru. It is a Heaven where the righteous live in paradise before their next reincarnation. Svarga is seen as transitory place for righteous souls who performed good deeds but whose conduct is not enough to attain moksha, or union with God. The capital is Amaravati and the entrance is guarded by Airavata. Svarga is presided by Indra, a deva and Lord of Heaven.

In Slavic religion Svarga is Heaven, the residence of god Svarog.
