Uniformed Services

Uniformed Services refers to bodies of people in the employ of a state that are not employed on standard terms of contract, but have some element of additional discipline, and wear a uniform.

Typically the uniformed services of a state include:

• the countries armed services
• the police
• the fire and rescue service

In some countries the following may also be included:

• tax or customs officials
• immigration service officers
• coastguard service personnel
