University of MissouriThe University of Missouri System is one of two public state university systems in the state of Missouri. There are four campuses, of equal standing, in the system:
Degrees from all four campuses are conferred through the University of Missouri. HistoryThe University of Missouri was founded in 1839 in Columbia which remained the sole campus until 1870, when a school of mines and metallurgy was established in Rolla. In 1963 the University of Kansas City, which had been a private institution, was acquired by the University and a new campus was created in St. Louis, creating the present four campus system.
