University of YangônEstablished in 1878 as an affiliate of University of Calcutta, Rangoon College was operated and managed by the British, who colonized Myanmar, formerly Burma. In 1920, Rangoon College became the Rangoon University. Today, it is known as University of Yangôn or Yangôn University.

This occurred on 1st December 1995. This marked the school's establishment of approximately 75 years. ProgrammesYangon University offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. The undergraduate programmes are in Arts, Sciences, and Law. Postgraduate degrees are in three groups, a Doctorate, a Masters, or a diploma.
