A V4 is an engine in V configuration, with 4 cylinders.
Lancia produced several narrow-angle V4 engines from the 1920s through 1960s for cars like the Lambda, Augusta , Artena , Aprilia , Ardea , Appia , and Fulvia. These were a spiritual predecessor for Volkswagen's VR6 family.

The Russian manufacturer ZAZ also produced air cooled V4s with a balance shaft called MeMZ-965 and MeMZ-966. The only difference seems to be that the first gives 26 hp while the latter gives 27 hp.
V4 engines are also commonly found in motorcycles, for instance the
