General informationThe call letters WCOL are used by a radio station in Columbus, Ohio owned by Clear Channel Communications. The call letters WCOL represent the city that the station serves: W Columbus WCOLThe former WCOL (AM) is now WTPG. WCOL-FMWCOL-FM is located at 92.3MHz. WCOL-FM currently plays country music as "Buckeye Country 92.3 WCOL". WCOL-FM has had its current format since February 14, 1994. Prior to that, it was an oldies station (sometimes known as "Cool 92"). To usher in a new format, WCOL-FM 'stunted' over a number of days by broadcasting a computerized numeric countdown. For a time in the 1980s, the station operated as WXGT and played rock-oriented Top 40 as "The New 92X". During the 1970s, WCOL-FM was known as "Rock 92" and played mostly album rock.
