- O love, whose lordly hand
Has bridled my desires,
And raised my hunger and my thirst
To dignity and pride,
Let not the strong in me and the constant
Eat the bread or drink the wine
That tempt my weaker self.
Let me rather starve,
And let my heart parch with thirst,
And let me die and perish,
Ere I stretch my hand
To a cup you did not fill,
Or a bowl you did not bless.
-"Love" from The Forerunner
- "Y no penseis en dirigir los caminos del amor; es el amor quien si os encontrara dignos dirigirĂ¡ vuestros caminos" - El Profeta -
- Yesterday we obeyed kings and bent our necks before emperors. But today we kneel only to truth.
Attributed:
- Do not say, 'I follow the one true path of the Spirit,' but rather, 'I have found the Spirit walking on my path', for the Spirit walks on all paths.
- Keep me away from the wisdom which does not cry, the philosophy which does not laugh and the greatness which does not bow before children.
- Tenderness and kindness are not signs of weakness and despair but manifestations of strength and resolution.
- The reality of the other person lies not in what he reveals to you, but what he cannot reveal to you. Therefore, if you would understand him, listen not to what he says, but rather to what he does not say.
- "Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself. Love possesses not nor would it be possessed; For love is sufficient unto love." (the prophet)
