Robert Mugabe
Robert Mugabe (born 1924) is the current, as of 2005, President of Zimbabwe .
- "Our party must continue to strike fear in the heart of the white man, our real enemy!"
- "Zimbabwe is for black people not white people."
Mugabe thus charged that the club of mostly former British colonies had been taken over by racists. He said:
- "If the choice were made, one for us to lose our sovereignty and become a member of the Commonwealth or remain with our sovereignty and lose the membership of the Commonwealth, I would say let the Commonwealth go."
Furthermore, Mugabe condemned the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom , Tony Blair , saying:
- "He is arrogant – he thinks by virtue of his being white, by virtue of his being the prime minister of Great Britain, he can dictate to us."
- "The Commonwealth is a mere club, but it has become like an 'Animal Farm ' where some members are more equal than others. How can Blair claim to regulate and direct events and still say all of us are equals?"
